1991 NSX Gets Updated
Building a dream car while also preserving its heritage is no small task. But this NSX pulls it off perfectly.
Improving upon Perfection
As most of you undoubtedly know, the first-gen Acura NSX was one of the most well-balanced rides ever built. By anyone. It was fast, it handled like it was on rails, and it was reliable. But no matter how good the NSX is/was, that won't stop folks like Nim Divino from working to make it better. And judging by his feature over at Speed Hunters, he pulled off that seemingly daunting task with ease.
Change of Plans
But the most interesting thing about this 1991 NSX is that it wasn't what Divino was looking for. Instead, he was in the market for an S2000. But his desire to find a raw, nimble sports car seemed to also mesh with NSX ownership. Plus, he found it back in the early 2000s, when they were still relatively cheap.

Preservation Job
Back then, this NSX was stock and sported Formula Red paint. But it wouldn't stay that way for long. Divino had a vision for this build, one that would improve upon what Honda did in the first place, while also taking care to preserve the car's heritage.

Driver's Car
Divino wasn't about to build something he couldn't drive and enjoy, either. Which would be completely counterproductive given the many qualities the NSX offers. No, he wanted something he could enjoy on twisty mountain roads as well as trips to the grocery store.

Changing Hues
Divino did have a different vision of how he wanted the car to look, however. His obsession with Lamborghini Giallo Orion Pearl Yellow wasn't going to be denied. Thus, the formerly red car now proudly wears that exotic hue.

New/Old Car
The remainder of the appearance upgrades serve to add both performance and a touch of modern to this now rather old car. Fresh wheels and aero bits accomplish both of those goals, and give this NSX a lovely new/old look.

Finely Balanced
In addition, a number of unnamed performance upgrades help the NSX keep up with newer supercars. Throw in some aftermarket suspension goodies, and we're betting Divino more than accomplished his original goals of making this the ultimate driver's car.

Showing Off
There is some showmanship to this build, of course. An exposed engine bay gives onlookers a peek at the NSX's legendary 6-cylinder mill. There's a tablet built into the center console to give the car a touch of modern-day electronics. And the rear diffuser is a nice touch, too.

Just a Pinch
It took several years and lots of careful planning, but Divino's ride is one of the nicest NSX builds you'll ever lay eyes on. This is something to say in a day and age where mod lists typically span dozens of pages. But in this case, you don't need much to make an already great car even better.
