I got hit in the Snalibu on Thursday morning. I was going across the intersection on a green light. There was a person facing the other way, and stopped in the left turn lane. She waited until I was right in the way before deciding to drive into the side of my car.

I left it at a body shop in Chicago. I am expecting an estimate today. There is frame damage, so I am very fearful that they will total the car.

I don't WANT to buy another car, and that's a first for me.

Shit. I was wondering about that this morning, she hit you in a structural part of the car and was worried if it is/was fixable

Anything is fixable. But the chassis/frame are a hydroformed piece. So the rocker is the frame on that car. And it's dented and wrinkled behind the doors (on the B-pillar too, near the bottom.)

The body shop told me they would have to cut that out and weld in new structural metal. I am sure they could do it, and it would be a solid job. But I doubt the insurance company will want to pay for it.

Similar thing happened to my parents last year, they were hit really hard in the front near the A pillar of their minivan. Insurance wanted to total it, but my dad said not to and to fix it. The shop fixed it, but it isn't quite right.

Doors are tricky, I'm not sure you'd want it back, there's always something not quite right after a wreck like that

The plates expired on both cars yesterday. Oops.

I was able to renew the BMW yesterday (although I won't get the sticker for about 5 days.)

They wouldn't let me renew the plate for the Snailibu because I didn't have an inspection done. I sent them the estimate from the body shop and they exempted me from the inspection for this year. So now I'll be renewing the plate on the Snalibu to avoid any late charges.

$279 for the M
$202 for the 'bu.

I'm sure they apply that money to the roadways in Michigan, so totally worth it. Right?
