That's odd, a friend of my dads has 2 Opel GT's doing the exact same thing on her property as well.

Yet another screw in a tire. That's the second puncture in this tire, the fourth on that car and the fifth this year. WTF!?

 

I had a similar stretch a couple, few years ago...became an expert in plugging them myself. Luckily, I'm on a dry spell as far as punctures go.

Anyone doing any construction around where you work/drive/live? I attributed a couple punctures to some roofing work that was being done near my office at the time.

 

A house is being built across the street from me. I hear the nail guns going off all the time now. I'll have to be careful.

 

They have been roofing in my neighborhood all summer. But roofers don't usualy use screws.

The REALLLY shitty part is that it's not repairable. And I can't buy just ONE tire since I need to have even wear between the sides of the car. (Plus the tires are almost bald.)

They quoted me $1100 for two rear tires.

I just checked and Tire Rack has them for $405 ea.

 

Not true at all. I'm sure that I had long black roofing screws in my tires from the roofing work near my work. That's what they use to affix the subroofing. (Yes, the shingles go on with nails, but the subroofing materials are screwed down).

 

They aren't doing any tear-offs. This is the first time my subdivision has been roofed since they were built, so they put the shingles over the existing shingles. Plus it's not the screw that is the real problem. I had the same tire punctured last year and the tire has worn to the point that now the rip caused by the puncture has been exposed. THAT is the one that isn't repairable.

I ended up ordering some firestones. They are not AS sticky, but they have a longer tread life rating and are still run-flats. I only ordered the rears, but they are about $600 from tire rack (for the set, shipped.) I expect to spend about $650 by the time I have them installed and balanced. I MIGHT get them by tomorrow, but more likely I'll get them on Monday.

 

Yeah, two punctures too close to eachother won't be repairable.
