Sorry to hear that Sam and holly. Unless the harness was completely destroyed by The "rivet", they should have done a temperary repair to the harness so you can have your car back infill they new harness is ready.
We have done that a few times at my workplace where the customer needs their vehicle back and the proper repair requires parts that are on backorder.

I've calmed down about it since yesterday, but I'm still not happy. My 92 Corrado had the same thing happen, it was never right afterwards and it ended up with $14k worth of warranty work within a year and spent 6 months at the dealer getting fixed.
The used car manager offered us $19k for the car, it only has 14k miles on it and is mint cond. There are a few for sale in Chicago in the mid $20k range, my fear is that when we go to trade it in we are going to get hammered because of the service history showing an electrical problem.
Bummed.
