Dork.

The used car manager just lowballed us on it for trade-in. Golly-gee I wonder what would make him do that.

I am really sorry it's been such a pain with the car. Hopefully they will come through with a better offer.

Sorry to hear that Sam and holly. Unless the harness was completely destroyed by The "rivet", they should have done a temperary repair to the harness so you can have your car back infill they new harness is ready.
We have done that a few times at my workplace where the customer needs their vehicle back and the proper repair requires parts that are on backorder.

That's what confuses me about it, the dealer originally was just going to fix the wire, and it wasn't until they told VW about it when VW said no, we need to replace the entire harness. The dealer took pics and sent them to VW of the harness, the dealer won't forward them to me, I'd like to see what the issue is. The dealer said the wire that was chafed was too short to begin with, perhaps that is why VW is concerned

I've calmed down about it since yesterday, but I'm still not happy. My 92 Corrado had the same thing happen, it was never right afterwards and it ended up with $14k worth of warranty work within a year and spent 6 months at the dealer getting fixed.

The used car manager offered us $19k for the car, it only has 14k miles on it and is mint cond. There are a few for sale in Chicago in the mid $20k range, my fear is that when we go to trade it in we are going to get hammered because of the service history showing an electrical problem.

Bummed.

That's crap. Which dealer is this? You're coming to dinner tomorrow, right?
