On Friday, I ran into problems at work with two machines. One was mine, and the other was being ran by another guy. Both had problems at the same time which really really slows me down. With my machine, parts had a cycle time of 3 minutes. For the next SIX HOURS of my day I only got 20 parts done. After lunch for the last two hours, I got 21 parts done. Both problems were taken care of, but the first part of the day was just irritating. Especially when the boss tells me "First shift was running parts on your job all day and never had a problem. Why do you all of the sudden have a problem?"
Well, the idiots on first shift weren't checking their parts, and even greater a no-no, weren't filling out the MPC sheets (material process control). Those are auditable records. They were supposed to record one in five parts, and they didn't record anything. So their 20 parts that they ran were out of tolerance and the dimensions were jumping around like a drunk bunny.
I really wish I would have just gone home that day.
Today, was fine with the exception that I found out that I can't make Core Status (AGAIN!) because the company is neglecting to train me on the last bits that I need to become an official lead-man in the department. I've been the unofficial lead-man for the last three years. It's starting to tick me off.
But my boss told me it's time to start being a pest on that subject.
