I went to see Daybreakers tonight. It was awful; the story was weak, predictable, and somewhat cheesy. The acting was okay, although Willem Dafoe has a way of creeping me out in whatever role he takes on (with the exception of Platoon). Long story short, it's not worth seeing in the theater.

If you aren't going to see Avatar in 3D then wait for the Blu Ray.
I used some money I got for Christmas to help fund a Home Theater PC purchase. I currently have a little over 300 movies ripped to hard drive, with about 450+ more left to do. Being able to pick and choose has been a LOT of fun. I have a TON of movies I've never seen, but wanted to, but always forget to browse the physical media.
I just saw Taken. It was much better than I thought it would be.
I really like Watchmen. I saw the theatrical release, and now I want to see the ultimate edition.

Was thinking of seeing Daybreakers tomorrow. I'll probably still see it if my friends want to go...I'll expect it to be awful though. Roeper and Phillips gave it good reviews although overall it's not shining on Rotten tomatoes.

Taken is the sh!t. Liam Neeson is just brutal in that movie...knows exactly what he's doing. Methodical. Doesn't let his emotion get in the way of the mission. Freaking awesome.
I'm not sure if Watchmen Ultimate edition is worth it. I love watchmen, but the whole tales of the black freighter thing was really distracting in the graphic novel (although relevant I guess). To be fair, I haven't see the Ultimate cut - just the directors cut (which is worth it over the theatrical version).

Saw Avatar both in "regular" 3D and IMAX 3D (@ Barrington). The difference is not worth the cost difference.
Maybe at the IMAX @ Navy Pier (cool @ss seating design), but definitely not at AMC Barrington.
I also highly recommend you watch Viggo and Charlize in "The Road"....

We saw Avatar at the Century theater in Evanston, which has a "Cinemark xD" screen, their competitor to IMAX (it's a 70' wide, floor to ceiling type screen, so not overhead like the IMAX of old, but I guess IMAX is getting into some PR trouble with their less-than screens...).
anyway, the visual experience was great, and the movie was better than expected.
