Default Yet another winter tire question

just moved to MN this summer and picked up an 06... I'm totally in love with it. Being the first RWD car I've owned since my 83 Rx7 that I drove in high school, and being from AZ and TX, I don't know what to expect up here.

From what I can find, I'm looking at blizzak LM-25s or Dunlop M3s in 205 up front and 225 in rear (downsized both).

a) are those the best downsized sizes to go w/

b) which of these tires is going to keep me from killing myself ?

Thanks guys

I would get a 2nd set of rims in 16". I prefer going with a little more sidewall in the winter which gives a more forgiving ride, especially on those cold mornings when the suspension isn't giving you much travel (you'll find out). Additionally, each time you mount and re-mount tires from a rim, there's a possibility of some wheel damage. My advice is to find some used AP1 rims and run the OEM tire size with a true winter tire. The rear OEM S02s are wider than most 225 tires, but a slightly narrower tire is best in the winter anyway.

As for which tire in particular, I have no opinion regarding either that you list. Both should be OK. Also, as soon as the weather turns warm in the spring, make sure to get those winter tires off the car.

I run a non-staggered setup in the winter. 215-45/16 on some aftermarket enkies and it does fine.
