Do you know if there are any other deals like that?

I just found out tirerack doesnt even have any matching sets in stock.
is it ok to go with different backs and fronts...what are the down falls to doing something like that?
Last year, right after my s2k came in (November) I went to NTB and ordered four Michelin Pilot-Alpin 205/55 mounted on 16 x 8 wheels for $875. The wheels were $75 ea and the tires were about $100. They did fine in the limited snow, but are too great in the rain. I put the same size all around and that works fine. I keep them in my garage and just switch when it actually snows, takes about 30 min. Good luck!

I recently put on lm-22 in stock sizes on my stock wheels. Here in nyc we just had our first snowfall last night and the car handled fine. As long as you realize the conditions that you are driving in you will have no problem in the snow with these. In the dry the lm-22 are fine. They definitely are nowhere near the performance of the so2 but fun none the less. It is easier to slide the rear around with the winter tires but handling at the limit and above 80 mph is not even close to the stock tires. One thing to watch out for though is tire pressures. I am running 32 psi front and 31psi rear on the winter tires. Any higher pressure and the car gets squirrely aspecially on the highway. I usually run 38 psi front and 35 psi rear on stock so-2's. I got my lm-22 from tire rack about 1 month ago for about $550 if i remember correctly and it cost me $60 to ahve them mounted and balanced.

What is replacing the MZ01 and MZ02?? Something that grips like an S02 and still good in ice and snow?

The Blizzak Ws50 and the Blizzak LM22 will stay current. The LM22 will be a better handling tire and the WS50 will be better in the snow but handling will be a little soft.
These should be the only tires frome Bridgestone next year.

I thought the MZ01 and MZ02 were new tires - to replace the WS50... Oh well.

Jim: Will TireRack be carrying the Yokohama winter tires next year?

I am not sure. We carry the other Yokohama tires but we decided to not carry the Snow tire this year. We will have to wait and see.
Sorry I don't have a good answer for you.

just bought a 2002 s2k. getting it in a couple weeks.

unfortunately everyone I talk to, tirerack, ntb, sears, all the local places....dont have tires to match the stock configuration.

though everyone has plenty of fronts. most are willing to sell me 4 fronts too....except tirerack who tells me it's unsafe to run them that way.

I'm pretty desperate at this point. I didnt wanna run a beater this winter since winter is half way over but it's looking more and more like I'll have to. Any suggestions? is it really unsafe running 4 205/55/16's? anyone know anyone who's got something in stock perhaps?

never thought getting tires would be so complicated.

edit: oh and then there's the issue of wheels. tirerack lists like 4 wheels avail. for the s2k. none of which are 16's. I want 4 cheap wheels to run these winters on...suggestions for that as well?

another edit: can I downsize the wheels to 15's and upsize the tires? would that open up options?

I do not have any matching tires left but we do have 16" wheels for the car. I have the ASA JS6 at 139.00 per wheel. I also do have the 205/55R16 tires in stock but nothing for the rear.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
