Default Winter tire, please help!

I bought the car used, and it came with 17" Kinesis wheels. The previous owner couldn't specify the spec of the wheels since he had purchased those wheels used. Right now, it's wearing Fuzion ZRi 225/255 rubbers, and I want to see if I can use this wheels for the winter. I know you want the skinniest tires possible for snow, I just am not sure how narrow I can go with these wheels. 215/245 maybe? I'm not sure if that's skinny enough and thought about buying a set of used ap1 OEM wheels and slap on some 205/225 snow tires, but I want to see if I can save these wheels and save that money to buy the snow tire.

Any help will be appreciated!! I'm going to Germany in a month for a new assignment, and I've never lived anywhere that snows!

Keep the Kenesis wheel for summertime and get a used set of AP1 wheels for a winter setup.

I have another set of advan rg-II that I want to use for the summer time. I know how it sounds, but instead of buying another set of wheels, I want to see if I can just use what I have.

^^^ okay, let me try this then.. what if I wanted to use the advans 17 7.5/8.5 for the winter tires? Isn't that pretty close to ap2 oem wheel size?

sizes are close but it all depends on offset... if the wheels are sunk in a decent amount then you probably have close to stock offsets... but I don't know if they have that high of offsets on the advans

the offsets are 45/50 on the advans which I think are very close to the OEM spec. my question is whether rockin' 215/235 or 245 for winter tires is good enough. I was always told that skinnier the better for winter tires

Honestly I wouldn't recommend using either of those sets in winter, get some stock wheels.

is it because of the tire width I may have to use with these wheels or.. because what they are? I know it sounds bad or maybe because I've never lived at anywhere snows, I can really careless.

Oh wow! Just saw where you lived so nevermind all that.

Why are you getting winter tires for Mississippi? If I were you I would just get some all seasons.... Hell I know some people here in MN with rwd cars don't even get winter tires
