Default Will this tire rub ?

I have 245/45-17 out back(had a 1/4 in. bolt go into one of my rear 255/40-17 tires and had to replace both rears) and the town that I was in only had the 245/45-17 tires on hand(on vacation) so that is why that size tire is on my car.

I like the way the car rides and handles, so to get the tires closer to the same diameter can I run a 235/45-17 tire(have 225/45-17 now) up front on a stock '06 with out having the tire rub on the front fender?

You can see above that a 235/45 to a 245/45 is a 1.4% difference.

I know that, but I would still like to know if a 235/45-17 tire up front will rub on a stock '06.
Here is the size of the tires that I want to run(already have the 245/45-17 out back)

235/45ZR17
Speed Rating “W” = 168mph (270kph) 93W SL Treadwear: 360
Traction: A
Temperature: A360 A A 1433 lbs.
25.5" Diam.

245/45ZR17
Speed Rating “W” = 168mph (270kph) 95W SL Treadwear: 360
Traction: A
Temperature: A360 A A 1521 lbs.
25.7" Diam.

So that is only 2/10 of one inch difference between the front and back tires.

If you want 235s up front you are better off going with a 235/40 tire.

If you like the way the car handles why are trying to go with a wider, larger diameter tire up front?

You realize that will change the way the car handles?

If you like the way the car handles stick with what you have.

For what it's worth, I had 225/40 18s up front on my stock '06 on 18X7.5 plus 50s and had occasional rubbing. That tire is narrower and has a smaller diameter than the 235/45, so yes the 235/45 will rub.

I think I'll try this tire up front, its the same width(even though its a 235mm) and its 4/10 of a inch taller than my 225/45-17 so it will match up better with my new rear tires(245/45-17).

The reason you found 245/45/17's is because that's OEM fitment size for 99-03 Mustangs. Almost every tire shop worth a damn carries at least one set of them.

The tires you have on the rear are about 1" taller than stock. They are not a good option on the car. The speedometer, odometer and gear ratio are all off on the car. I would try to get back to the 255/40R17. The 235/45R17 could fit on the front but depending on suspension travel they could hit.

My speedometer was the first thing I notice, my speedometer is right on with the 245/45-17 rear tires @ 65 mph(the speedometer was always 2 mph fast with the 255/40-17 tires according to my GPS).
