Will Plasti dipped wheels survive track days?
#2
It should. I had them on my wheels for a week long dragon trip. Use one can on each wheel and don't stop spraying until the can is empty. The thicker the better. Makes pealing it off much easier. Use a quarter on each lug hole. Good luck with the plasti dip. Later BD

It will stay on the wheel, however my experience is that the brake dust will melt into it and you'll never get it clean again. I did white and they look like blotchy gun metal after a couple track days, even after attempts to wash them. So unless you're doing black or grey, it will be a lot of work to look cool on the way to the track. But it doesn't melt off or flake or anything.
This was with rotor-cracking heat levels and PF11 track pads.

From what I have seen through friends doing it, the part about using a can per wheel is spot on. Too thin and it will peel off in little flakes. If you dont cuss now, you will after dealing with that Thicker makes it peel off in larger pieces.

It will definitely hold up if you give the wheels a few days to cure. I plasti-dipped my Tundra's chrome wheels black. Used 1 can per wheel, I would highly discourage using any less.
They've held up two years of hard use with no tears or problems.
Make sure to do light coats at first and then heavier coats for the last two or 3 sprays.

Yes it does hold on track. I did mine neon yellow last season. The brake dust was pretty bad and impossible to wash it back to like new condition. I used 5 cans for 4 rims. It was nice and thick but I couldn't peel it easily. Had to slowly remove it using WD40 and brake cleaner to melt and wipe it without damaging the clear coat on the wheels. Took about 3 hours to remove the dip from the 4 rims.
