that should work OK ...... might rub the front plastic liners a little

is their a way to get the best performance and not rub out of these. diferent offset? different tire size? different wheel width?

I think you might only have a problem on the front. Wait and see, if you've already got the tires. If not, you might want to try 215s.

215's are hard to find in the right size ...........

so you think a 215/40/18 would work fine for the front? What if I got a higher offset for the fronts? Would the car still perform to its optimal performance, or will I notice a big negitive difference? (regarding 18s and in the sizes that Im looking into)

What you stated is nearly the same width and offset of OEM 17s. You must be careful about increasing offset too much. There is always the potential of hitting stuff on the inside of the rim/tire, especially during full steering lock.

If you could find a wheel w/ 55mm offset in 7.5x18" you could run the 225/40-18 w/o rubbing ...... slam away, no problems

The 225/40R18 would fit and should not rub. Stay that way for the best handling.
