Default Widest Tire on Stock AP1 wheels.

waddup guys,

Im in need of of some tires beacuse my s02's are balding like there's no tomorrow. I'm not gonna run that expensive of a tire so im looking into the Kumho SPT's beacuse there a reputable brand. I know that i have to run a 245 if its not the stock "s02" but, i was wondering if i can run a 245/50-16 in the rear and a 215/55-16 in the front. I think that rears are okay but are the fronts to wide? Or should i juss run the recommended 205/55-16 up front. please lemme know. thank you.

245/45/16 is the correct rear size when going to any tire except an S-02, as the OEM S-02's are not really a 225/50/16.

You will not be any wider with a 245 tire on the rear.

As far as I know, the widest tire you can safely get on the rear 16" wheel is a 255.

I don't know if I read this other thread right but in the racing section some guys were talking about for autocross they run a 225 front 265 rear on the ap1 tires. Can some one who knows confirm this?

I run Kumho Victoracers in the exact size stated above (225F /265R) They seem to be holding up just fine and the balance of the car is phenominal with this set-up. I am on stock springs/shocks/swaybars also.

I think you need to check the specs of the specific tires you are interested it. For example, even thought the SO2 rears are wider than the numbers indicate, contrary to popular belief, all other tires are not smaller. The BFG TA KDs are virtually the same size, but they always were known to be wider tires in general.

So it really is tire specific. Find one that fits your budet and compare the specs relative ot the stockers (overall diameter, revs/mile, section width, and if possile tread width).
