Not pretty much they are impossible to find currently as the production stopped a while ago and unless you want to run Hoosiers on the street it's the only option. Why not look into some ccw's or a wheel you can order in a custom offset? Also since when are the 17x10 +70 Volks discontinued?

You may want to pm s2000junky. He has a set of widened rfp1 's and could help you out as he knows the issues with widening wheels better than anyone. It may be better to guys a slightly higher offset rfp1 and get that widened as it would be lighter than oem as well.

The Volks are discontinued, but I believe you can still get them if you order 40+. Really though for best low gear traction you can either A) Do BBG and hope it's enough or B) Use NT01s or something similar. A 255 NT01 is probably going to grip better than pretty much any street tire. If you're looking for a strip setup there's a few threads floating around putting MT ET Streets on AP1 wheels.

There are no good street tires in 17" sizes above 255. If you need to go wider, you will need to run 18" wheels. Even then, choices are very limited in terms of wheels that have appropriate offsets. I would run NT01 tires first and see what you think before you spend thousands and thousands of dollars getting wide 18" wheels, more-expensive 18" tires and modifying the body to accommodate them. I think short of a purpose-built time-attack car it's probably not worth it. That's why you see so few people run anything wider than 255, even pure-track cars.

Don't a lot of fast people run 275-40-17 size tires?

I'm sorry but if you widen the barrel how does that effect offset at all? offset is how far out the face is from the hub is it not? so if you widen the barrel you are essentially just making the wheel wider, no?

If you were to add a lip to the face, THAT would change offset I would think. maybe i just dont understand this?

Offset is the measurement of how far the hub mounting face of the wheel is from the center line of the wheel. Offset changes as width changes since the center line of the wheel moves.

off set is how far the hub is from the center of the wheel.

a stock rear wheel is 17x8.5 + 65mm off set. In terms are width, the center/middle of the wheel is 65mm from the hub(where the wheel bolts on to.

If i widen my stock rear wheel to 17x10 the wheel will not stick out of the fender any more than stock. the width is added to the inside. since 17x10 is 1.5 inches more than stock which 39mm. so you take half of 39 ( we will call it 19mm) than add 19mm to the sock 65mm off set and you get a 17x10 +84 offset. So a 15mm spacer would make the effective offset about +70 which would be perfect.

Yep, and still wouldn't even need to touch the fenders yet.

Here is a fitment example of my rear wheel and the one as stated with the additional 15mm spacer. I only have my rear fenders rolled, no pull.

My wheel is in orange http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...&Submit=Submit
