I been driving the car with this tire setup for a few weeks not I can honestly say that this setup really kicks ass. There is just way more grip than my old 275/40/17 nt05's. Before I use to only have traction in 4th gear or higher. Now 3rd gear hooks hard when boost kicks in and this is with about 600whp. If I get the tires warm even 2nd gear don't not spin all that bad anymore. The amount of extra grip of a 295 tire compared to a 255 is huge!! I never want to run a 255 rear tire ever again.

I also email kumho and they said that they will be making the v720 in 295/35/17 size but they expect that this size be be released in the beginning of 2016.
Also more then strait line, its the lateral grip improvement. Which for me was the primary reasoning to go this route. In that regard, making 225whp or 450whp doesn’t matter, I’ve had both. Either way I can carry a higher speed in the turns on the track and not be penalized for running an R comp on the street. It was a high performing option as well as a practical one. The whole wheel/tire package weighs the same as OEM v1 spec.

Spring 2016 cant come soon enough.
Yeah the grip is amazing. I can't wait to auto cross this setup.

On another note I notice on hard dips my front tires are rubbing. I'm running the 17x9+45 rpf1 on the front with 255/40/17 kumho xs tires. The front stock fenders are rolled but maybe I need to roll them more. Front actually looks very aggressive even more so than the rears. What kind of camber do you guys run on the street? Perhaps I need to get a new alignment and go for about -2 degrees on all 4 courners.

You really need to pull the fronts a good 10-15mm with that wheel/tire set up. -2 camber minimum regardless. Mine are pulled about 15mm so I can have some alignment room. Currently at -1.5 for steet. -2.6 for track alignment. I started with a 8.5 +40, so outward protrusion is just a couple mm less aggressive then yours. Your tire profile is pretty square compared to mine being 255/10" as well so your going to rub more under suspension compression. If you added 25mm to the inside, it would tuck your 255 better helping with outer clearance. You would get better performance out of the tire as well.

I thought a 255/40/17 and a 17x9 +45 was a common setup for the front. I dident think we had to pull the fenders for this front setup. I thought a roll was good enough. When i get some time next week i'll try rolling the front fenders a litter more and maybe try to go to -2 camber and i hope that will stop the running. It really does not rub all that much but something needs to be done before I auto cross this thing.

It’s common with good amount of fender work. 245 would be a better match. If you think you are rubbing now, wait till you AutoX it. That aside, if you want to get the most performance in handing and grip out of a 255, you want to mate it to a 10" width. But 255/9” +45 isnt a bad performing combo, but you will have to fuss with it more.

Now sell me your spare rear tires

I'll think about selling the tires to you. How do you think a 315/35/17 will fit on my car? Do you think it will clear the outside of my asm fender flares. I'm running a 17x11.5+48 setup.

Sweet man, that would be awesome!! thanks for considering it thumbup:

With the ASM lip shaved all the way I think your going to be cutting it very close depending on your camber. I think you will be better off to accommodate thr 315 with that wheel on a 15mm spacer. Your effectively adding 10mm to the inside and outside simply moving to that tire on our 11.5" width. The tire will also sit square on it, so really no tire tuck as it camber up through the suspension stroke following the fender contour. So is it possible? Yes. Your adding 20mm more tire and 25mm additional fender clearance. You just have to land the right spacing.
