I'm not exactly sure what year the 295/35/17 were sent off the production line but you should probably get to driving on those tires. Rubber degrades and hardens, losing its grip after awhile.

I believe 08 was the last run of them. 7 years is a long time.

The 295/35/17 kumho xs only had one run. They were all made at the end of 2008. Yes there old. But I found a set of four brand new that have been stored in a cool basement. I'm also keeping my spare 2 in bags inside my cooled garage. I hope there ok. But so far the tires feel great of the road. Definitely has tons more grip that my old 275/40/17 nitro nt05s. And my nt05s had way more grip that 255/40/17 rs3's.

I wish I can but I'm going to keep my last spare pair for myself. I really feel like no one is going to come out with this size again. But I hope I'm wrong. But like I said earlier just go with over fenders and go with a 315/36/17 tire. A 25.5-25.7 inch tire is not that tall and won't throw your speedo off by much. People run 26 inch tires on the s2000 all the time.

The Speedo correction is the least of my concern, im concerned about lengthening the gear ratio, slowing the acceleration down and making the engine work harder to dig out of the corners. I am back to NA now. I'm also concerned about added sidewall deflection due to the taller sidewall and the rake/balance difference this will put on my currently balanced chassis. I dont want to increase the rear center of gravity and there is no more room to compensate with lowering the suspension, and I dont mean physical room, I mean the suspension geometry and alignment spec for optimum performance. All these factors could be a real drag when compounded together.

The 255/40-295/35 combo is really an ideal staggered amount of rubber for this car, hight and widths. I tuned the car/suspension around this set up. Its very well balanced for FI or NA configuration. Deviating from this would put me a few steps back.

Kuhmo corporate has already confirmed with me that they will be reproducing the 295/35/17 in the new v720, along with all the other big sizes they produced in the xs IE; 255/40, 285/40, 315/35 etc... Its just in order to make the SCCA cut off date of Apr 30 they selected a handful of the most popular sizes to release first. The rest of the old line up will be trickled in I'm told later this Fall/winter and spring 2016. I'm down well into the wear bars on my last set, so either way its looking like I will be parking my car sometime this summer when the cords start showing.

Why not just buy some cheap 9' wheels and some square 255s in the meantime so the car can be enjoyed, if you are NA 255 is plenty sufficient.

Becuase I didn't buy and build this car to be "sufficient" I did it to kick some ass! I refuse to spend money I dont have to spare, for a temporary downgrade of the cars performance. If I wanted just a sufficient set up, I would have kept the car stock.

I been driving the car with this tire setup for a few weeks not I can honestly say that this setup really kicks ass. There is just way more grip than my old 275/40/17 nt05's. Before I use to only have traction in 4th gear or higher. Now 3rd gear hooks hard when boost kicks in and this is with about 600whp. If I get the tires warm even 2nd gear don't not spin all that bad anymore. The amount of extra grip of a 295 tire compared to a 255 is huge!! I never want to run a 255 rear tire ever again.

I also email kumho and they said that they will be making the v720 in 295/35/17 size but they expect that this size be be released in the beginning of 2016.

Also more then strait line, its the lateral grip improvement. Which for me was the primary reasoning to go this route. In that regard, making 225whp or 450whp doesn’t matter, I’ve had both. Either way I can carry a higher speed in the turns on the track and not be penalized for running an R comp on the street. It was a high performing option as well as a practical one. The whole wheel/tire package weighs the same as OEM v1 spec.

Spring 2016 cant come soon enough.
