Wheels spacers and purpose?

I think the track guys stay away also because of the additional stress put on the hubs and bearing.
Increasing the track would only be beneficial if you were increasing tire width to go along with it.

it kills the bearings. imagine holding a pencil sideways on one end, pushing it down the middle/pushing it to the far end a little bit more. pushing it on the far end adds more stress to the hand you are holding it with. same thing with moving your center of gravity of the rims to the far end more by adding wheel spacers.

If you cant afford a wider wheel, run them. 25" will clear our car. Your car will feel more stable and planted, its true what they say, wider is better and you will notice as I did for the few years I was running them. I've got almost 200k miles on my car and never had a bearing failure. In theory there is more leverage added, but there is even more added when going to a wider wheel becuase weight on the outside of the wheel vs just the center puts more load on the bearings, and well either way its not enough to cause problems with our car, there is plenty of other modifications that will. Spacers are one of the few inexpensive mods that will not only improve the looks of the car but performance as well.

It lowers your roll center, which is beneficial.
this guy could have used a lower center of gravity(dropped) and some spacers?!?!
(:
