I had tires mounted on some new WedsSports the other day. A day later I found 8 small indentations on the inside of each
wheel, 2 every 90 degrees. This was caused by the tire mounting machine obviously. This is not the norm right? The wheels should be void of any marks if done properly I believe.

I've read online that the rubber bumpers on the 'grabbers' may have been missing. Needless to say I'm bummed and PISSED!
I used Tire Rack for recommended installers and used the 4th one in line, the first 2 being mobiles. The 3rd one has a 'touchless' machine but that was 2 hour wait. I'll talk to them before doing the other 2 wheels.

I'm calling the shop tomorrow, no idea what good that will do though, maybe just a refund if I'm lucky. Wheels are the limited edition gunmetal TC-105Ns so no direct replacement.

Just something for you guys to ask about when you look for an installer; make sure the machines are properly equipped!

Looks like they clamped them from the inside which is a big no no. Sorry to hear that dude I would try and have them pay for the wheels but highly doubt it. They are suppose to clamp from the lip of the wheel and with plastic guards or microfibers, but some shops don't give a shit

There's actually 12 to 16 bite marks per wheel:

Am I making too much of this, is it common? I've had just one other set of aftermarket wheels in the past and I don't recall similar, permanent
marks/dents on those.

I plan on getting some touch-up paint to fill in the dimples.

Looks like they have a tire mounting machine that has four clamps on the bottom that expand to hold the wheel. Older machines had metal claws that dug into the wheel. New machines that still use that style of clamp have either a plastic or rubber coating, or a plastic sleeve that goes over the claws. Even with those sleeves/coating it is possible for the claws to leave marks on the inside of the wheel barrel.

Ehh it's not that big of a deal, be glad it wasn't on the face or outside lip. Just make note to never use them again. If you want to complain, maybe they'll refund mounting costs. Not all shops use the rubber covers on the clamps. It's always good to ask questions about their equipment and make it a point that they need to be extra careful, with any tire shop.

With older machines you can also clamp them from the lip to avoid this. Hey op pm me your number I will txt you some pics of how it should be mounted

Even clamping on the lip can leave indentations on the rim if they have metal clamps.
