Wheels on a 2004
Hi. I am a newbie and just signed on today. I live in Naples, FL
I recently acquired a 2004 S2000 with 24,000 miles. I love the car, especially the last 1500 rpms. But, I have a "problem." One wheel does not match the other 3. The other 3 wheels are very shiny. They look like they were polished but I was told by a metal shop that they were not polished. The front of the spokes are polished and the inside is painted in a very bright silver. I thought the non-matching wheel came from another year and tried to rectify the problem by ordering a 2004 wheel. Well, the wheel that came looked like the non-matching wheel. Polished on the spokes but painted between the spokes with a flatter silver. I spoke to the local Honda dealer but they could not help me other than telling me that my non-matching wheel was the original wheel for the car.
My question: was there any kind of special edition of the car in 2004 that might have had different, more brilliant wheels. The reason I ask is because my car also has what appear to be various oem aero bits, namely an air dam under the front bumper, air dams in front of the rear wheel and what appears to be a somewhat different spoiler on the trunk.
I would really like to find a wheel that matches but am at wits end. The non-matching wheel looks like the others but is not finished the same. I really don't want to replace three wheels to get them to match or, alternatively, powder coat the wheels (its a pain). I would just like to find a matching wheel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No there was no variation on the wheel and there was no special OEM finish to the wheels. I don't think they even offered the 2004-2005 AP2V1 wheels in chrome (at least i have never seen a set in chrome). It is possible that the wheels were refinished at some point. If you could post pictures it would make this easier. Also welcome to the forum.

I thought I posted pictures but they seem to have disappeared along with the text so I am reposting them. I hope I haven't posted the same thing twice although in this post I used larger pictures.
Three wheels on the car match the left hand picture. The right hand picture is the odd wheels. Honda, aftermarket people, etc. tell me that the right hand picture is the oem wheel. The metal working people tell me the wheel in the left hand picture was not polished and is factory done, The difference between them is slight. Structurally they are the same but the finish between the spokes in the wheel in the left hand picture is bright while the finish between the spokes in the wheel in the right hand picture is mat. I am trying to find another wheel that matches the left hand picture.
Like I said, I keep wondering if this might have been some special model. It is a 2004, the first year the car was produced at Suzuka and it is Suzuka Blue with oem aero bits on it

And like we said there is NO special editions for the car in 2004. To be totally honest I am not seeing any difference. It could be one wheel is dirtier than the other 3. Embedded brake dust and other crap.
Ok I saved the pictures so I didn't have to view the giant pictures on here. The second one look refinished for sure. Like it was possibly damaged and refinished or a replacement (possible a replica and not oem due). The barrel on the second wheel also looks much cleaner making me think it is replaced or refinished.
Also this is probably easier for people to compare the pictures.

But he says the brighter looking wheel matches the new OEM wheel he bought so this would reinforce the theory that the odd wheel is just a newer wheel and that the other 3 are older/original
To me, they look really really close. The odd wheel just looks brighter and cleaner. Considering the OP says the new OEM Honda wheel he purchased looks like the odd wheel, makes me think the other 3 are just old and become slightly discolored over the years. Brake dust and grime will turn white wheels to a dusty/darker shade. I'm guessing this happened to the bright silver wheels considering they are 10 years old now.
there is a chance the 3 wheels could be replica, sold on eBay, but I have no idea how to tell. I've never seen a comparison between replica and real Ap2V1 before.
OP, have you looked at the back of all 4 wheels you have to see if the markings are all the same?

This thread shows pictures of eBay Ap2V1 wheels and the markings that should be on the real OEM Enkei Ap2V1.

eBay replica Ap2v1:
1. Check your wheels, does the finish of any of your wheels resemble the replicas?
2. Do any of your wheels say Made in China on the back?
If all of your wheels are OEM, then i'm guessing the 3 are just old and/or have been cleaned over the years using abrasives that have discolored/changed the finish slightly.
