Wheel Width VS Treadwear Question...
Currently I'm on stock AP1 wheels
Front : 16 x 6.5
Rear : 16 x 7.5
running Hankook RS2's with treadwear rating of 200. As most of you know they are fairly grippy tires.
Now if i go with say..
Front : 17 x 8
Rear : 17 x 9
and run Falken FK452's with a treadwear of 300, which are obviously less grippy...
does the added contact patch going with the 17's but less grippy tires counterbalance the more grippier tires the Hankook offers?
I guess wondering if the traction would be somewhat similar.

what tire sizes? if you have more contact patch your handling will slightly improve but they wont stick like the hankooks
Hankooks
(I think thse are the size off the top of my head)
205/55/16
245/45/16
vs what will be my future tire size
ap2 tire size
Falken 452's
215/45/17
245/40/17
Im not comprehending how you say handling would be better but at the same time not as sticky. I thought those two go hand in hand.

I'm not sure there's an exact answer.
Each set-up would probably have it's advantages and disadvantages over the other set-up.
Your experience with each would be different but not necessarly good versus bad.
Someone who has had both may be able to explain the differences which would still be only an opinion..

Treadwear ratings are not consistant from company to company. Those numbers don't tell you anything. The 17" lower profile and wider tires are going to give you quicker turn in response.
