Default Wheel/tire recommendations

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate a few moments of your time on the following wheel/tire combos I'm ready to pull the trigger on.
I would hate to make a mistake after spending good $$$!

First the wheels: I want to buy Work CR Ultimate in matte black for my 2003 stock height/suspension baby.
I'm looking at 17x8+47 for the front and 17x9+38 for the rear. (These are the highest offset available in 9" wide)
Will these specs work without any rolling with stock height/suspension?
If not, what else would you recommend ?

Tires: I'm buying Yokahama AD08's and am considering the following options:

Rear: I have pretty much decided to get 255/40/17 which are 10.3 wide and have an 25.0" diameter. (Talk me out of it if I'm wrong)

Front: 225/45/17 vs 235/40/17.
The 45's are 8.9" wide and have a 24.8" diameter.
The 40's are 9.5" wide and have a 24.4" diameter (Please offer your opinions on these sizes or if others would be better)

Which front size would offer the best stagger with the 255 rears?
Or if you have a better front size recommendation let me know.

Thanks in advance!

From what I have seen, it seems like the 225 tires are more common with a 255 rear than any other size. I personally run stock ap2 size tires for street use, but the track use does see benefit to the 225/255 combo in my experience. Good luck with the new setup man.

On an ap1 I would run less tire up front, so id stick to the 225/255 stagger. Now as far as rim fitment, your going to need to roll the fenders, especially in the rear. You need a +50 minimum to get away from it with these tires. And no the stock tires size still wont give you enough leeway.

So,
will 17x8+47 with a 225/45/17 on the front need rolling with stock height and suspension?

How about 17x9+38 with 245/40/17 tires instead of 255's?

The problem is the max offset is +38 in 17x9

I really would prefer not rolling the rear. If I can switch to the 245's I would do it.

You should be alright up front with enough camber, -1.5 to -2 but you will have to watch it. If you start rubbing the liner with the tire its just a matter of time before it wears through and your tire grabs one of the steel tabs and f@#ks your fender up. You might consider a 215 to give you some added margin. The rear there is no way around it at that offset and width, you have to roll, even with a 245.

Hi guys just needed your recommendation on wheels tires....
I'm looking to get wheels for my AP2 - the vehicle has OEM suspension and springs...

I'm looking to get this size and need to know if there will be any rubbing or issues fitting them now, and if I drop the car 1" if that will be an issue with these wheels?

F: 18x8
R: 18x8.5
offset 46
Bolt pattern 5x114.3

also what size tires are recommended for this setup?

feedback much appreciated

You will need to roll the fenders and reload the tabs.

Tires should be 225/40/18 front 255/35/18 rears.
