Default wheel/tire combo

i just ordered a set of wheels. enkei RPF1 in the following size/offset:

F:17x8+45
R:17x9+45

i've done plenty of research on this setup and have everything figured out except the tire size. right now i am running a buddy club N+ coilover and lowered the car approximately 1.25 inches. i am having my rear fenders rolled prior to wheel install, and i am going to re-align my car with some more negative camber.

i just wanted to see what everyone thinks of the tire size i plan to run, and whether or not it will work. i dont mind the occasional rub, but i dont want it to be rubbing everytime i hit a road imperfection. i was thinking of:
F:225/45-17
R:255/40-17

alternate choice of course would be:
F:215/45-17
R:245/40-17

i'd really like to run the thicker rubber setup. . .anyone successully using this setup with little to no rubbing issues?

Since you are running a coilover setup, you can adjust your ride height. With rolled fenders, you should be able to run up to a 255 tire in the rear.

I would say you are going to be a lot saffer with the 215/45R17 and 245/40R17. The 255 in the rear is going to need some help to fit without rubbing. We are going to be carrying the Enkei wheels. We have the RPF1 in 17X7.5 and 17X8 in stock actually now.

i tried my buddies 17x9+45 w/ a 255 tire on today- as soon as i lowered the lift, i watched the tire slowly kiss the inside of my rear fender. (i guess my ride height was lower than i had anticipated). granted i didnt adjust the ride height, and i havent had my fenders rolled yet- but it gave me a pretty good idea of where everything would sit with a 255. i think i can make it work with some tweaks, so im going to opt for the 255 rears.

. . .now i just need to find a 17x8+45 with a 225 to test fit the front.

225 up front should work if the 225s aren't too wide.

I want to order these in the same size/offsets if they are available soon. But for tire size I would like:

235/40 front
245/40 rear

I think I would be pushing it in the front with a +45 offset, but I want the widest tire possible and maybe I will have a little more breathing room with a 40 sidewall. The lowest I would drop the car is an inch

is that for your mr2? theres barely any stagger in that setup = oversteer. if you want the widest tire possible go 225/255, that should be fine.

No that would be for my s2. The car would be driven on the street but not pushed to the limit and will see a few track days a year

If you want to run a 235 up front, you will need to raise your ride height.
It appears that you are lowered and if that is the case, you will definitely rub.

If you want to run a 235, you can do so with AP2 wheels. You can also do this without rubbing and chunking your tires.
