Default Wheel spacer Q's

I was browsing some YouTube videos about lowered s2000's and a lot of people said that lowering the car means nothing if you don't use wheel spacers. I've never heard of using wheel spacers when lowering a car but I have noticed that the wheels look weird within the wheel well of an s2000 when its lowered. Could somebody explain what they're about and what they are supposed to do? Possibly even a picture of a car with wheel spacers and one without?

Thank you.

Hi Dean. Spacers are used to counteract high wheel offsets, thus making wheels fit more aggressively and closer to the edge of the fender. It's not necessary to install spacers when lowering a car, but I would agree that a reduction in ride height does work to highlight the weak stock offsets and give the stance a more sunken look. I recently installed 15mm hubcentric spacers on the rear of my car with AP2v2 wheels. You can check out the pics here: https://www.s2ki.com/...st__p__21170843

That whole thread is a great source of info. Keep in mind fender modifications are necessary at certain ride heights to accommodate big spacers. Hope this helps man.
