Default Wheel Size Question

Don't know if this question has been answered previously or not. I have a chance to pick up a set of Moda's from a friend's RX7. They are 17 x 8.5 with a 60 mm offset and have 235.45.17 rubber. Notwithstanding the "factory stagger" controversy, will these rims fit my un-lowered S2K?

Russ, many thanks. A wealth of info. Going to try the wheels on this week. I have some concern about the fronts. I'll just have to see.

Make sure the wheels are hubcentric for the S2000... or get hub centric rings...

The wheels are not hub centric for the S2000. You also don't mention if there is a narrower wheel for the front. I have heard of people using this high of an offset but it is not something we recommend for the car but you may be able to make it work.
I hope this helps some.

The wheels are all 8.5 in. wide. Tire AND wheel inboard increase in front is 1.8 inches and, for the rear, 0.5 inches. Outboard increase front is 1.4 in. and rear is 0.9 in. As I said, I'm really concerned about the fronts. I question if there is nearly two inches inside clearance, and what about the 1.4 outside? Do you have any clearance data for the S2K?

regarding the "controversy", don't ignore it. its not really a controversy. I think you really dig the wheels you are trying to aquire and trying your best to make it work. Several people have gone out and purchased the same sized wheel and mounted them in all four corners only to regret their purchase and very soon afterwards purchase a different set of wheels because it doesn't work.

I don't have that kind of information but I think with the extra width and the higher offset you are probably going to have a problem in the front.

I can't imagine there would be nearly two inches of strut clearance from an OEM wheel on any car but that is purely assumed. I'm not even sure there is a half an inch clearance (haven't checked) in the rear. I wouldn't go that far outboard on the fronts otherwise you're going to be repainting the side of your car once every six months from road vomit being slammed into it from the tires with that kind of outboard difference (1.4-inches). I just don't think with all things considered, this is a wise choice for a replacement wheel. The measurements are too far from OEM.
