Default Whats the best size wheel performance wise?

This would be for an AP2. Any benefit in going down to 16" (is it even possible)? Stick with 17's but go with something lighter/forged? A forged 18"? Inquiring minds want to know! I don't plan on tracking the car at all, just want to improve performance for daily driving. I know improving the unsprung weight of the stock wheels will help.

Yikes, no replies. An easier question perhaps.... I have an ap2, can is there anything preventing me from going down to 16" wheels?

Your AP2 was designed to work with the width and stagger that came on the car. Your best bet would be to get the lightest wheel/tire combo you can get and maintain desired stagger.

You are, however, looking at big $$$.

You can go to 16s, but you will be running narrower tires, so performance will suffer. (AP1 wheels will fit the AP2)

Call or email Jim @ tirerack he is a wealth of information.

I don't think I'd go back to 16s... there are more options for tires in 17" sizes. IMO a nice light 17" is the way to go, but "adding lightness" gets expensive. I think the OEM wheels are a great compromise. They're not terribly heavy, they have the proper stagger, and they have high offsets which mean you're not likely to have any clearance issues, even if you go to 225/255 front and rear.

Cheers.
