i have a pair of front wheels that are 17x7 and i like these wheel so much i want to attempt to put them on. i want to fit the widest tire on them.

You'd want an 8" rim minimum for 235/40-17. Not to say you *couldn't* fit them on a 7", but I wouldn't.

Minimum recommended width for 225/45-17 is 7", so that would be OK, but personally, I'd go with 215/45s for the street.

i was wondering if 245/45 would fit and how would handling would be?

That tire is too wide for the wheel and oversized diameter, stick with 225/45.

sam, 245/45 will fit, but the sidewalls will become too soft since there is no wheel width to support it
