can anyone help me out.....I need to know the PERFECT tire size for my new Volks...they will be coming in, in a couple weeks...they are 18x7.5 and 18x8's..with +50 offsets....the seller suggested 225/45/18 and 255/40/18....will those work??..I really don't want to purchase tires that aren't just right...any help would be appreciated...Thanks...

Your offsets are too low in the rear so there's a good chance you will rub under compression especially if you are lowered and running bigger rims on low profile tires at stock height is a big no no in my book. Maybe if you run a bit more camber than stock in the rear you might be able to get away with it, but that's a lame move in my book. You shouldn't have to play any tricks to avoid rubbing.
And fitting 255s on an 8" wide rim? Is this normal? I'd think it'll look like race car tires... kinda ballooning out the sides

I think 18X8 +50 should work okay, albeit not ideal. I know a lot of people are running 16 and 17X8 +high 40's offset lowered without too many problems. WRS2K is just being picky. He is right that they may stick out/rub a bit though. I'm personally going to be running 16X7+48 and 16X8+49, same as Docofmind, and from what I understand you can lower 2 inches on a 225/245 setup without rubbing at all.
For your 18s you might think about limiting your rear width to 245 and to maintain stagger, 205/215 in the front.
This is all speculation on my part though.
