Default what does staggered mean?

hi guys, what does staggered rim and staggered tire mean??? I see that a lot and don't have an idea. I am planning to spend $1500 on tires+18 rims. which brand should I go with?? I checked wheelmax.com and they only have 45mm offset rims. what is the lowest offset I should go with?

Staggered means a wider rim in the back. I think 45mm offset is too low if you're going with 18's. I have some Work wheels. and they are 18x8, and 18x9. Offsets are +51 front and +63 rear. Tire sizes are 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. Once in a while, I'll rub going at highway speeds (in the rear) if there is a swooping dip in the road. So if you go with only a +45 offset, I think you'll be rubbing alot. But rolling your fenders may help with that offset though I'm not positive. Hope that helps.

it depends on the width of your rims and the size of your tires. like what rajun said, staggered simply means wider size in the back.

ex.
18x7 front and 18x7 rear is NOT staggered.
18x7 front and 18xanything greater than 7 is staggered.

225 series tires front and 225 series tires in the back is NOT staggered.
225 front and anything greater than 225 in the rear is staggered.

You would need to make an ideal staggered set up however. just because it's half an inch wider in the back doesn't mean you have a good staggered set up. find out the width and offsets of what you're looking at and maybe some of us can tell you whether or not it would work.

You don't get too low with s.tech springs so you'll have less problem with rubbing than those with lower springs or coilovers.

looking at your sig (mod list) you have some quality parts. i would personally consider slightly more for a higher end rims.

try to stay above 50+ offset front and close or above 60 in the rear. it all depends on the width too, but thats the typical offset for this car.

from the mods in your sig, it sounds like you're into performance. i say stick with oem wheels and tires or get lightweight 17's with the right offsets and stagger. 18's will affect acceleration and braking and since you're not getting right offsets and stagger, it will affect cornering as well. if you just want 18's for the looks and not really performance then go for it.
