What do I replace my RE050A rears with?

I have almost the same priorities:
1. Wet Traction
2. Dry Traction
Cost isn't really an issue. I was looking at Potenza S-04 Pole Position and Goodyear Eagle GT. Not sure if a dedicated Summer or All-Season tire will perform better under wet conditions. Not planning on driving in snow, would plan on picking up some winter tires if I can't leave the S2K in the garage.
Really I would love something that's not so silent at the limit. Likely my inexperience with RWD dictating that, but I'm not used to how silently the S2K will kick out the rear.

Don't forget the Sumitomo HTRZ 3 if you are looking for a tire with great aggressive street driving and great wear too. And they are probably cheaper than anything else listed I even used them on the track, and for what they are they did great. but They do get greasey if pushed really hard. Not an issue on the streets however. Even on spirited mountain runs!

The S04's would be an excellent choice.
Also, you might consider:
Continental ExtremeContact DW (cheaper, very good wet and dry grip, somewhat squishy sidewalls)
Michelin Pilot SuperSport (supreme wet and dry grip, stiff sidewalls)
Sumitomo HTRZIII as mentioned above looks to be a fantastic tire for the $$$ (I might get a set in skinny sizes for my FD if I do the Texas Mile later this year).
Check them all out at the Tire Rack website, tons of info there.

Slow day today. Based on this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=148 I'm thinking the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is the way for me to go.

I do want to see a good review of them or a comparison between any Extreme performance tire though.

Another tire very worthy of consideration: Dunlop Sport Maxx TT. Great tire, does better than the HTRZIII in the wet. For some reason doesn't appear when you do a search on tire size. No 215/45-17 size, so 225/45-17 with 255/40-17 would be the way to go on AP2. I ran these on my AP1 for a while, including a couple of track days. Unfortunately no more 16" size available...

Yeah, I'm a little confused on tire size. I read through a bunch of threads about opinions on correct size for replacments, seemed that they were speaking mostly about the AP1. Can I trust TireRack's recommended tire size?

215/45-17, 245/40-17
215/45-17, 255/40-17
225/45-17, 255/40-17
You could also run 225/45-17 with 245/40-17 rears, but the fronts will be larger in diameter than the rears and will also "pooch" more, giving a noticeable "big fronts/little rears" look.
