Default WD-40 to shine up Polished rims

I was wondering if anyone uses or knows about using WD-40 to shine up and clean your rims with polished lips. For example after your car wash applying WD40 on the rims and then wiping it down with a microfiber rag. I used to do that on my old rims and it worked like a charm it would leave the rims looking great effortlessly but I feel as if doing that isn't good for the rims and eventually the rims are gonna look bad. I got some new rims and I wanted to ask before I started using it on them too. Also does anyone know of some good products in the market to clean rims like that, maybe something that comes out liquid and you just wipe it off the rim that's makes them nice and shiny?

You'll probably have better luck checking out the Wash and Wax section. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/forum/15-s2000-wash-and-wax/

Wd40 is actually really good at cleaning metal. However I would not suggest spraying it on the wheels since it can get on he brakes. Use a good wheel cleaning product. There is plenty out there. A favorite is sonax but I have not had great results since I have painted wheels it just doesn't seem to work well for me.

I'm not sure what it would do to a polished surface, but I use it all the time on my paint to get black marks from the marbles or cones off of my car before I wash it.
