volk le28n's lip's are peeling?
so i have been running volk le28n in gunmetal/polished lips for a little over 2 years. the lips on the rims are starting to have some kind of strange peeling phenomenon going on and i'm guessing there is some kind of film or something on them? anyone know what the deal is with this? how do i get it off? it looks like shit up close.

and jeez i guess does this mean i shouldn't have been using the metal polish on them??
Macken recomends water or a mild glass cleaner.

I doubt they're anodized clear because you can't anodize over the painted center section. It's more likely to be clear paint.
Either way, you should only use soap and water to clean them. Detailer spray is also OK to use. Just don't use the harsh spay-on wheel cleaners designed for raw aluminum wheels.
If the clearcoat is damaged you'll have to have them repaired by a wheel repair specialist.

They way to fix this to have them polished (and i'm not talking about Mothers metal polish from Autozone) and then clear coated.

cool thanks for the info guys.. i guess the metal polish i used every once in a while accelerated the toll the anodizing took..
well at least i know better now. i had no idea i thought it was raw polished aluminum..

Clear anodizing does not "peel" so if it's anodized it will be a very thin coating. Anodizing eats into the alloy to form a bond. The anode distributes a very thin coating. The way the wheels appear to be made, the first step is to paint the center section, then machine the lip, then apply the coating. If that's the case, I don't think it's possible to anodize the whole wheel after the center has been painted. Why do you think it's anodized? The only Volks that are anodized are the bronze ones.
Paint peels though, because it's thicker and sits on top of the aluminum.
