Default Very confused about offset?

Hi everyone i asked somewhat of the same questions before but still are very confused. Well i have (2) 225/40/18 tires for the front and (2) 265/35/18 for the back. I know that the two front can be mounted on a 18x7.5 with i supposed a +48 offset and the rear 18x9 with +55 offset.
Now i just wanted to know can i mount these on any 18 with lower offset like smaller width or no, especially the rear. Let say front would be 18x7.5 with like +32 or +35. The rear would be 18x8.5 with like +35 or +38.
My brother in law can mount 275 on 18x8.5, so can i mount the 265 on the same width rim???
Would my rear tires be sticking out or rubbing at all???
And What is fender rolling??? Can i get that done for my rear fender so that i can fit more rims???

u can mount a 265 on a 9" rim however if you went with a +38 offset the rim won't fit. I have a 18x9 with a +57 offset with 255/35 and my car is lowered and they fit in perfectly no rub or anything. I would say a 265 could fit as well but it may rub a little bit in dips, thats what i suspect though. As for the 225's i have that as well with a +52 offser also lowered 1.3" and I have plenty of room. I am actually thinking of dropping another .5" or so. Oh ya the fronts are a 18x8 rim so the 7.5 should be no problem i suspect

oh ya fender rolling is rolling of the inner lip in your rear fender. so like you say you can fit more rim and tire in it.

Take a look at the stickied thread at the top of this forum. It explains all about offset, widths, etc. and even has links to sites that tell you what offset is all about. You seem to confuse width with offset. The two are completely different attributes of rims.
