Unhappy Upsizing OEM front tire from 215 to 225

Almost time to replace two OEM front tires on my 05', like to upsize from 215 to 225 to get more traction, but concerned with potential negative impact to handling. Anyone done this and has info to share? Thanks.

my two rears are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in size of 255/40/17.

i upsized my stock 205's to 225's and noticed a small increase, but I mainly feel more confident as I am not driving around on those pizza cutters

on my MY04 i went from 215/245 to 225/255 tiress and i'd have to say the wider fronts make the car point faster. It also got rid of alot of understeer, and balanced my car out really nice. That being said, i have yet to make the rear get loose on me and until i get some track time, i'll probably never see the limits of these tires as I respect the car and value my life too much. haha. So yeah. I'm running the New Dunlop Star Spec tires.

I have been running the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 225 and 255 for about a year now. I like them. Seems to be better handling and I have never had them break loose. The rears were made in Germany and I am okay with that, however, the fronts were made in China and I was not too happy about that! Check with the seller and avoid products made in China until they have quality control issues in check.
Anyway, no problems with the wider tires and I think the handling is actually a little better.

Goodyear in China is the same as in Germany. Tire plants are 95% robotic anyways. The key is not to buy tires made by a domestic Chinese company.

Am i the only one who downgraded from 225 to 215 and felt an increase in handling and performance?

Potenza RE050A Pole Position 225 front 255 rear, along with the switch to the Volks saved about 3.5lbs per wheel. I have been very happy with them.
