Default UN-painting wheels

hey guys! i recently bought a set of Volk GT-Us that were painted black. It was gold before. The rims has a few rock chips and it seems as though the gold is still under there. I want to paint my wheels back to gold but i was wondering if i could just strip the layer of black paint that is on it instead of repainting or powdercoating. Maybe paint thinner? Thanks. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

The finish needs to come down to the bare metal with a chemical stripper or media blast. They'll have to be repainted or powdercoated after that.

the gold is the gold that came from volk. they just painted over it. on some areas it looks like if i really tried i can gently peel the black paint off back to gold. i dont think volk would just paint their wheels.

either give the wheels an acid bath or sand blast them. then you can finish them any way you want
