Trofeo R vs RE-71r

Default Trofeo R vs RE-71r

Does anyone know or have experience with both of these tires? How does the trofeo R stack up the re-71r (which we now know is equal to the nt-01 in terms of lap times)...

I know the trofeo r is a good deal lighter, but not much empirical data on it that I know of to see where it falls in terms of hoosier, z214, hankook td, r888, re-71r, etc.

I'd be willing to bet the Trofeo R's are grippier than the RE-71R and R888. However, a Hoosier will be grippier than the Trofeo R, which is comparable to the expensive Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires which are also in that range of grip, somewhere between the RE-71R and Hoosier.

However, the Trofeo R's will probably also wear really fast, not unlike a Hoosier, and I think may even wear faster than the Pilot Sport Cup 2.

No class, just HPDE, time attack against myself basically...just wondering how much quicker the trofeo's might be over re-71r's since it's time to purchase a new set of track tires...

I have a very scientific algorithm to help you decide, so if your ready here it goes... They are likely within spitting distance of each other, so just get the cheaper option

Trofeo is a 60 treadwear. Try them since theyre new. Then you can buy the re-71r. Which one has a rebate or availability

Just buy Hoosier A7s. The difference in price will pay off in seconds on track. Anytime you want to know how tires stack up, refer to what Greg at NASA thinks in the 2016 NASA Time Trial Rules:

Im surprised they rated the Maxxis RC1 slicks the same points as the RE71/Rival S! I know they are 100TWR but dang!

Some decisions are based on classing/contingency. Nearly every NASA TT car is either on the Hoosier A/R or a Maxxis RC1.

Im thinking RC1s for dry and RE71s for wet I'd go TrofeoR for wet, but I think the RE71s would do better if there is heavy saturation.
