Default Track rims

I'm a newb when it comes to rims, I read & read on offset and all that crap and still have trouble understanding the science behind it all. I'm looking for a set of rims, probably in the new year that will be more oriented towards tracking. I like the idea of keeping a 16 or 17" rim just because the tires are so much cheaper to replace. I'm not sure what the best width is or offset. All my friends keep telling me RPF1s but none seem to know what sizing is best lol. Just wondering if you guys have some suggestions to throw out or ideas of rims currently on the market that could do the trick.

Thanks for the help!

In my opinion, 17x9 + 63 is one of the best sizing. Offset is easy to fit 255 tires, TR motorsports and TSW Nurburgring are pretty affordable options in this size.

I am also a sucker for RPF-1's (obviously). 17x9 +45 is the size I'm running. I like the look of the +45 better but they are a little more challenging to fit decent sized tires, will likely need to roll fenders (at least the front)

What type of tire size do does rim sizes allow for? Can I go with something a little lower profile (30-35)?

I will take a look at does other rims as well. RPF1s are nice, but pricey! Unless I can find a beat up used set lol.

255/40 would be the largest on a 9" rim.

I suppose a shorter tire would be OK but it will throw off your speedo - why do you want a lower profile tire?

RPF1s are great for the money. Other rims that are lightweight like Advans and Volks cost way more. Limbo are you lowered? I recently lowered my car and im going to be putting a 7.5 +45 rim with 225 tires on soon and I was wondering if ill need to roll.

Yes, I'm lowered but not very low. I have ~2 finger gap all around. My fronts are rolled but my rears are not. I am on 17x9+45 with 245 tires, though.

With 7.5 + 45 and 225, I'd be very surprised if you needed to roll at any height.

I heard a somewhat lower profile tire would be better for the track? I bigger side wall would just end up squealing more?

I think that 40 is already a pretty low profile. My moms tsx has similar width to a stock ap1(225 all around on 17s) and I think theyre at 50.
