tires for my sti? nasioc is of little help
hey guys, hope you don't mind if i ask this question here since i have not rec'd enough opinions over at nasioc.
i have an sti and the stock re070's are coming to the end of their life cycle soon.
currently on my list are:
so3
michelin ps2
bfg kdw2
toyo t1s
my priorities are:
1. dry traction on par or better than stock
2. solid wet traction, re070 are less than inspiring in the wet
3. stiff side wall, as i may bump to 18's and keep bbs for my winter tires
4. road noise, would like to have less noise than stock if possible
5. price and tread wear are probably the last resort for deciding between tires.
i would like decent life out of these, but i am realistic about z rated tires
price should only be considered in case tires are closely matched or one provides a significant peformance value advantage.
(i suspect that may be the case with t1s)
btw, i mainly use my car for back road fun, but there is the possibility of some lite autox'ing this year.

I had a 98 rs 2.5, and went with a set of bridgstone re 730. good tire for that car. call up tirerack.com or talk to them they have a good database on what works. yes I do like your STI. the most awsome car.. but top down driving is much fun. drive safe

The PS2 and the S03 are going to be superior in handling to the other tires you mention in both wet and dry. I would also throw in the Goodyear GSD3 and the Kumho MX for the best bang for the buck. The MX will not be as good in the wet but equal in the dry.
If I can help give me a call.
Thank you
