I haven't tried Hankook RS-3s so I'll refrain from any input.

I found the Yokohama AD08s to be the fastest out of the afrementioned. They had roughly the same grip level as the Kumho XSs, but were more pinpoint precise with inputs. The XSs had a lot of grip, but were not nearly as sensitive to input as the AD08s. I think this would be much less of an issue as you go to shorter sidewalls. You can't really go wrong with any of the new high grip street tires.

The Hankooks are suppose to be near the top.... I'd also add in the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s. All the tires are similar in overall grip, but have a different feel to them. So it's a matter of preference.

I'd say the Yokos and Potenzas are a step up on the XS and Star Specs, and I don't have any experience with the Hankooks. However, one of my friends who trophies at Solo II Nationals every year got the Hankooks this year and loves them. They also seem to be the popular street tires for Time Attack street tire class.

Just did a track day on a set of 255/40/17 R-S3s and they are now my favorite tire. I've run various auto-x cars on RE-11s, Direzza Star Specs, XSs, RE-01Rs, R-S2s, etc... These new Hankooks felt awesome. The breakaway was very predictable when pushed beyond their limits and they didn't get greasy during 10 to 15 minute lapping sessions. For reference, I started with the cold pressures around 37 psi and let them warm up to about 40 psi.

Good luck with your decision. There are a lot of good tires out there, right now.

Take a look at the tires on our web site listed under Extreme performance. I like the Bridgestone RE-11 as the best that I have driven.
If I can help let me know.
