TireRack has no options for me for winter tires?
I went to check out TireRack because I'd like to get some winter tires for my '06 S2k. I have some AP1 rims that I used for my prior winter tires and just want to get some new ones put on that. Unfortunately, it appears TireRack has no options in the typical size of 205/55-16 front and 225/50-16 rear. This seems odd to me. Do tire companies just not make my size anymore or am I searching incorrectly?
I'm looking for performance winter tires that handle ice/snow obviously, but are mainly geared toward excellent rain handling. Last year I was looking at the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3, but didn't end up making a purchase and decided to wait until this year. Seems like I waited too long.
Thanks for your help.

for dunlops, you would need the winter sport 3D for the fronts, and the winter sport m3 for the rears. http://www.tirerack.com/winter/dunlo...interSport.jsp
in the navigation bar, you can go to products > tires > winter/snow tires, then browse through the brands, but not all brands offer the right sizes in for the ap1 wheels. the dunlops are one of the few with correct sizes.

If you search for tires to fit a 2000 instead of a 2006 you should get at least one set to show up.

i was worried about that when i ordered, so i ended up calling it in and talking to jim. i wound up with the same set, and the only real difference seems to be a variation in the tread pattern. haven't had an issue in the last 5 seasons (a little over 15,000 miles?). might need new rears for this coming season.
if you're worried about it, call tire rack, and talk to jim about your concerns. he would have a lot more info than i do.

Yup, no (or few) matching 205/55-16 225/50-16 winter tires. Not a big deal, really, as long as you get fronts/rears that have similar characteristics.
I've also been on Dunlop WinterSport 3D fronts and M3 rears for the winter months since 2008. Might need new rears this year as well...
