tire width and final gearing
Hey Guys,
I have an 01 s2000, with a turbo kit and have been a running stock s02s since i purchased the car. The rears, which i replaced about 5 months ago and 5-6K miles have about 40% tread left. I have never done a burnout, launch etc... but i am making quite a bit more torque than stock. I will be getting new tires shortly.
My first questions is in regards to tire diameter and its effect on the overall gearing of the car. I had been looking at getting some 4.44's to finish off the drivetrain part of my build, but don't really have the available funds. So i started to think of other ways of getting a bit shorter gearing, one of them being a smaller diameter tire. Are there any tires that you would fit a stock ap1 rims, that would make my gearing a little shorter? I know its going to mess up my speedo a bit, but i can look past it a bit if i can get a tire that is comparable to the so2s. Any response would be appreciated.

Here is a great little tool to help figure out tire sizes and effect on speedo.

But to answer your question...I guess you could try a 225/45-16. There is a BFGoodrich g-Force KDW2 in that size.
