Default Tire Weights

So wheel weights are a big deal, but what about tire weights? You can easily find wheel weights, but it's tough finding tire weights. In general, is there a major difference between 245-40-17 and 255-40-17... also, between 215-45-17 and 225-45-17? I know it's probably a negligible difference in rotating mass, but am curious, as I'm getting ready to purchase tires for my standard S2000 size TE37s. Thanks in advance.

Tire weight has more of an effect then wheel weight, simply because the extra mass is further outside. You can find tire weight by looking up the tire manufacture website and looking at the spec chart, most quality brands have everything you want to know listed.

If memory serves, its about 1/2 - 1 pound difference between 245/255.

Tire rack also lists the weight of a majority of the tires they sell.

Thanks guys... will do some more digging. I guess I'm looking at sacrificing either a miniscule amount of lateral grip or wheel horsepower that I probably won't even notice, lol.

Both rear OEM Bridgestone tires for the Ap1 and Ap2 are listed at 26 lbs. CR edition not included.

I believe when I had 17x9+45 RPF1's with 245/255 tires I saw a 1-2 lb difference in weight. Some of that was from the fact that the 255's were partially worn so I agree with the other post about a 1lb difference.
