I'd go 225/40F 255/35R: Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08

Basically, the front tire will flex a little more and dig in, where the rear will be nice and stiff. Since the rear has a larger contact patch than the front though, you can roll more on the throttle when exiting a corner while keeping the front from sliding.

You're right, the sidewall height will be the same, but the front tire is going to have more give than the rear at initial turn-in. He's only got a 1 in drop, any lower and I wouldn't have suggested the 255s, but I dont think he should have a problem. OP, what is your camber front and rear currently set to?

I guess I'm really pushing for 225/255 b/c I find it a little frivolous to buy nice 18s with increased wheel width over stock and keep stock width on the tires. jm2c.
