Default Tire size advise/ help needed

So i have been looking at getting myself some nice new wheels for my s2k. mainly looking at a set of Japan Racing JR5.

the size I was looking at is 17 8.5J et35

now here is where I am having a bit of trouble deciding on what tire size would be the best to go for. I want the tires to give that meaty look but hopefully not rub. I was looking at
235/40/17's but now im thinking that they wont handle that well and not improve the car in corners.

Any help or advice would really help please let me know what you all think is best?

The problem is the wheels, offset is too low to fit a proper width. You need something with a higher offset and preferably wider, especially for the rear. 245/40 would probably be the ideal tire size for this wheel but as you are already aware it will cause rubbing issues.

Have you done any fender/arch work?

arches are untouched currently, im happy to do the normal lip rolling. its just fustrating i can't find any examples anywhere of the same sort of fitment.

Those tires would be a nice option for the front, but not with those offset wheels. You would have to significantly pull the front fenders and run some pretty aggressive camber to squeeze them in. The rear you would want a 245-255 tire, but again, your wheels are a bit off to accommodate that size.

Those wheels are just CE reps. There is hundreds if not thousands of CE reps out there in sizes that fit better. The reason you don't see many run that spec is because the front ends up looking much more aggressive then the rear of the car. Further either 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear or just 245/40/17 square are your best tire options and the square setup is risky for the front. They can work they just won't look very balanced and you aren't going to get much of a benefit. Save you money, buy real wheels and wheels that fit.

You'd need fender work with a +45 wheel...going +35 just isn't a great choice. Find another set of wheels.
