Default Tire question with Rims

I am looking at the ASA rims As1 I belive...I am also looking at a set of Yokohama Avs100 to go along with that....I know with the factory wheels on the ap1 when you replace your tires with aftermarket you should go with 25s in the rear....How with this combo work out? are the tires too small for the 17? I want my car to handle better or the same as it does now...thank John

You give so very little information for anyone to really help you out. You need to state the ASA rim specs (width, diameter, offset). It can't even be said if these things will even fit on an S2000 let alone what tires will fit on them.

The "odd" sizing for the rear tire is ONLY for the OEM 16" tire. If you go to a 17" tire, you need to look at OEM sizing for the AP2. Again, not enough information.

Sorry about that this is all the info that I got from Tirerack....Will I still need to go with a 245 in the rear so keep the same balance as OEM?
And will this effect handling. Another option is to by the BBS LM but that will take a while I can have these next week. and they seem to be a pretty good quality rim for the price....Thanks again John

Those offsets will work but they are on the low end (marginal). Thus, this may be the reason for the conservative tire size. I think you can go 215 on the front. For the back, it doesn't say what the offset is, but if it's over +50, you should try for a 245 tire. I don't think TireRack would sell you a rim that's meant for an S2000 if it was grossly out of acceptable spec. This will give you more or less the same sort of rubber balance as the OEM setup for 17" rims, although the offsets are less.

If you put the AP2 into Tirerack's site, they recommend 215/245.

The rear offset is 45. It'll be close.

This being the case, I'd stay away from it if the car was lowered significantly.
