tire damaged for track use?
just noticed one of my tire has a little chunk scraped off near the sidewalls
i dont notice any difference just driving it on the street but would this be a big no no if i want to take it to the track?
attached a picture to better show the condition of the tire

That is a hell of a chunk! It looks like its deep enough that its showing the secondary layer of rubber and its too far into the sidewall for my comfort. I would not track this tire and i would get your fenders fixed so your not doing this to your replacement.

thanks guys! definitely safety first, would be replacing it before my next track day
i recently picked up this set up (rim and tire) , should have inspected it more carefully when i picked it up at night. pretty sure it was already damaged when i first picked it up. d'oh lessons learned

I definitely would not take that on track, as it does look like it extended into the carcass rubber.
Also, looks like you've got some really deep cuts from your fenders on the tire. Get that fixed before going on track. I've seen someone have a blowout because their fender that went from just cutting the tread a little on the street, ended up sawing through the belts of the tire in a shockingly short period of time (few sessions I seem to recall).

yea haha, luckily i dont think my fender caused this since i'm not rubbing at all. i bought this set of rims and tires from someone else, i noticed that damage when i was mounting the rim up the first time.
i was hoping that i didnt have to replace the tires but safety first
