Tire Age (All drivers, MUST READ!)
I came across a very informative video about tire age that was done by 20/20 recently. I did a quick search on this forum to make sure its not old news. Anyways, its about how to tell the manufacturing date of tires and how a lot of shops(big/small) still sells them. It is recommended that tire age that is more than 6 years needs to be replace.
The way to tell the date is by a 3 or 4 digit number on either the outer or inner wall of the tire. First 2 numbers correspond to the week of the year, and the last 1 or 2 digit correspond to the year. For example, 129 would mean 12th week of 99'. 3405 would mean 34th week of 05'. So on and so forth (I guess there are no numbering system prior to the 90's). Complete details are in the video. I hope the information comes useful. Just trying to keep everyone safe out there. Please share the information with other people.
Here is the video.

F20cftw, I love your ibtl enthusiasm. But I like you to point out the links to the original post so others can get more information on this issue. And please, don't point it to your regional section. I believe in keeping everyone safe, not just the people in So Cal.
