Default Time for new tires...

So it's time for my first tire change. I just clicked over 14,500 miles on my stock tires and they have seen better days. I am looking at getting the new Nitto Invo. I want to put a 225/40/17 on the front. My question is; Will that tire be the same size (Sidewall Thickness) as my stock 215/45/17 that I have now? Will I have any problems? I am going to stick with the 245/40/17 on the rear for now.

More info on the tires can be read here: Nitto Invo Website

when i had the invo's i was running 225/45 and 245/40 and it felt fine. the tires feel real good for daily driving and have good grip.

Was the sidewall taller in the front than in the rear?

Why would you want to go from 215/245 to 225/245?

The Invo is a pretty good tire. Not the best, but pretty good.

you need to keep 45 series on the front and not go down to 40 series because then your speedo will be off. switching up 1 size on the width while downgrading on the sidewall height does not cancel each other out to make the same size,...you will just have a fatter tire with less sidewall

225/45 is a tad taller than 215/45

however, im pretty sure the speedo is calculated on the rear wheels, not the front.
but too short of a front tire will result in ABS malfunction.

corect on the abs function, i was thinking too fast for my own good. however,...he said 225/40 he wanted to switch to not 225/45,.........in this case the side wall will be smaller, but if both 45 series then the greater width will be slightly higher/tall.

225/40-17 is only 2.5% smaller in diameter than 245/40-17.

I've run pretty radically shorter fronts than rears (205/45-16 F, 225/50-16 R Kumho Ecsta V700 track tires, 6.5% smaller fronts, not my choice, given to me). ABS was functional, but it seemed to overwork the fronts relative to the rears. Braking distances were likely somewhat compromised, but not hugely, still did OK in time trials.

Personally, I'd prefer either 215/45-17's or 225/40-17's over 225/45-17's with 245/45-17 rears.

You should not run a 225/40R17 on the front and a 245/40R17 rear. It will not affect the speedometer but it will throw off the anti lock brakes. With the 225/40R17 front you end up with a tire that is 1/2" shorter than stock on the front. Honda could even blame that size tire on things that may happend to the car.
