My biggest concern was rubbing in the front since i had to throw on a 5mm spacer to clear the center hub. I only have springs on because it was an impulse buy when i first bought the car, and i highly do not recommend that. The springs are too soft for any sort of autocrossing or track. Im doing KWV3s in the spring.

My plan was to run 17x9, +56 all around and get a 245/40/17 tire on all 4 sides....
You can stagger the offsets, but most do not. Another advantage of using the same wheels and tires at all four corners is the ability to rotate your tires. If you stagger the offsets, you will be less likely to be able to rotate your tires/wheels.

245/40/17s are easier to fit than 255/40/17s. You also have to be careful about which tire manufacturer you use. For example, Hankook RS3 255s are about 3/8" narrower than Dunlop Star Spec 255s. I don't have rubbing issues with Hankooks and I do have rubbing issues with Dunlops. I'm lowered 1.5", -3 degrees of front camber, 900 lb/in springs and a stiffer front anti-roll bar. So...there are a lot of variables at play.

What front sway bar do you have? Also, what springs?

Why not run 235/40/17 up front and 255/40/17 out rear? I think that should be decent on the 17x9 wheels? Thats what I planned on running on a set of PF01's based on searches. I planned to add swift spec-r springs is all and maybe Koni yellows down the road...

Can someone tell me if I am not going down the right path? Thanks!

I run 17x9 all four w/ 255-40-17 RS3.I dont autoX or track my car.I just like the grip on the street and the convenience of rotating tires,I also like how the car looks with all that meat on it

I run 17X9 +63 TR Motorsports C3 and stock ride height.

I went with 245R40/17 tires, since some people with stock suspensions do have rubbing with 255 tires. To be certain you don't have any rubbing with 255 tires you need to roll the fender lip and bend the tabs at the back of the fender liner. Even for Autocross there is some question about the benefit of 255R40 tires over 245R40 tires.

Go with your origional plan and get 245R40/17 tires.

edit: If you don't have a stiffer front sway bar, on my '06 simply disconnecting the rear sway bar was enough to balance the car with the 245 square set-up.

Rs3s are directional so we cant rotate, correct!

^you could move rear to front, front to rear, keeping them on the same side of the car.

You should flip them about half way through their life to try to get even shoulder wear.

I run 17x9 +63 with 255/40s also. Makes the steering feel very heavy at times.
