In addition to altering the camber/caster/toe settings, a performance alignment also involves the technician setting up the car almost exactly to the requested spec.'s.

Dealers and quickie alignment shops call the car "done" as long as it is within the factory +/- tolerance, which is actually quite large.

In addition, a precision or racing alignment is often done with the driver in the car to compensate for the additional weight.
