Stripping Paint on a forged wheel
well i have a nice set of volk 18" GT-N's, and as you can see they are currenty painted electron blue (Si Color). The original color was the Volk Gold, but plan on getting these painted.
now my question is, what will the rims look like if i strip the paint (using aircraft paint remover?) what color is the forged wheel?
i painted my oem rims with the three step process, prime, paint and clear.. but when i stripped the paint it when back down to an aluminium color.
would this be safe to strip both paints? the blue and the gold? thanks.

1> TAKE APART
2>use aircraft stripper.. like 5-6 times. it wont affect the alum.. spo id keep going so u dont have to sand at all..
3>then.. get them powdercoated.. painting is good but ask around, ocaaly powdercoating on a 2 peice wheel (they dont have tape off anything.. just prep/coat should be like 25-35 each===wellllll worth it

I am in the process of stripping my wheels and I am using a Metal Stripper product that I got at Walmart. It is pretty strong, but there is still some old primer on one of the wheels that is being stubborn. Can anyone recommend an EXTREMELY strong metal stripper? Please
As for the original question, heh, stripping them down to the aluminum is perfectly fine. Just make sure you take them apart first, as that would be the easiest way. Should be a fairly easy, but time-consuming process. Just take your time and don't rush. Have fun!
